In our final installment of this 3 part series, Hannah and I discuss their experience with unwanted pregnancy, abortion, and - down the track a couple of years - a miscarriage. This is s shorter one as we'd run out of time before Hannah had to fly out but I also have an incredible episode about abortion lesson of passion my sex date eleanor Madison Griffiths, the author of Tissue. So I'd highly recommend checking that out too. This chat talks about the very different experiences and approaches Hannah had when confronted with their first unwanted pregnancy and subsequent abortion, compared to their second unwanted pregnancy that wound up miscarrying. The emotional journey and process that they've been on in between these two experiences and how they feel about it all now. We finish with a beautiful and powerful poem that Han wrote during the first experience about the pregnancy that I feel super honoured and privileged to be allowed to share with you. So stick around till then end cos it's poignant AF! In this episode of The Labia Lounge Hannah and I follow on from our earlier conversation in Part 1 and chat about Hannah's journey being diagnosed with Autism and ADHD. We jumped in the bath for a classic Tub Talks conversation where we delved into the ways Hannah has navigated this process of learning how their brain works and come to some pretty helpful realisations through researching neurodivergence. It's been a life-changing turning point for Hannah as they've discovered way to regulate and optimise their functioning while trying to have compassion and understanding for themselves in the process of operating in a world that's not designed for them. We talk about masking, eye contact, chronic pain and disregulation in the body and nervous system, autistic burnout, the challenges and the gifts, and loads of other stuff that I can't remember right now! We'll be doing a follow up episode to cover what we didn't have time for or think of in the moment because this is a big topic and we both had many other thoughts around this pop up once we'd finished recording! So stay tuned but please enjoy this very vulnerable, frank, and fascinating chat. This episode of The Labia Lounge is the first installment of a three part series that I did with my dear friend Hannah while they were visiting from Perth. In this chat we cover different experiences we've had around things like sexual harassment on the street or in bars, strategies we recommend for handling this when it happens, strategies we DON'T recommend, and we also go on a few other side quests around neurodivergence, online chat room experiences, our teenage years, aaaand ducklings! It's a really wonderful, funny, relatable and interesting yarn so I hope you enjoy. Please stick around for the next part too as we cover some serious ground in this series and it's all full to the brim with nuggets! This marks the end of Season 3 of the podcast and I'll be back atchya in the new year. Have a sick time on your holibobs and catch up on past episodes that you've been meaning to check out cos once I come back in Jan it'll be back to weekly episodes and who can keep up with that?! This week on The Labia Lounge I got to speak with Alice Child about the orgasm gap AKA the pleasure gap. This refers to the discrepancy between the amount of pleasure and O's that men and women have during sex. We chat about why this discrepancy exists, whether it also effects queer relationships and intimacy, what factors contribute to it continuing to be a big issue in heterosexual sexual dynamics, how to combat it and what can be done on an individual level as well as on a larger scale. I'd gone camping and happened to have the couch in the back of my van so we popped it out under some pines and had a yarn about whatever came up and this episode is the result. We spoke about chronic health challenges and chronic illness, parenting - both conscious and unconscious - and privilege. There're some personal stories about our experiences with our own fathers, and chronic health issues - both mental and physical - as well as some relevant and related stories that came up about people we know all of which I have the go-ahead to share on here from the owners of said stories. It's an informal but heartfelt chat and as this year winds to an end I hope it resonates with some of you and helps you feel seen and validated in your experiences if you've had a shitty or narcissistic parent, if you're a parent yourself, if you deal with health battles or mystery illness, or if you've had a shocker of a breakup recently too! We discuss how to manage the dynamics in a relationship when one partner has lower libido and one partner has higher segzual desire. We cover how common - and in fact inevitable - this is, how to combat it when it happens to you, what the misconceptions and assumptions around this are and how the lower desire and higher desire can often feel, as well as the ways in lesson of passion my sex date eleanor they're misunderstood.
